This is a pretty big book. 204 pagaes and measures 8.75" X 11.75". A must have if you are an Evangelion fan!

This looks more like a boot leg art book than any I've seen. At first glance it looks pretty good. 100 pages of colour art before a little colour character design work and then lots of black and white design work makes the book look like a tempting prospect. I know I was. Now lets look a little closer. Many of the pictures suffer from crap reproduction and the layout is poor (many full page pictures are alowed to run into the spine). I'm certain some of the pictures are little more than screen grabs from the anime and have a suspicion that some of the pictures are actually fan art!
The episode guide is woefully inadequate. How on earth could you sum up an epiisode of Evan with three tiny pictures and one paragraph of text?
The colour character design work is a double combination of inadequate and poorly reproduced.
Indeed the best thing about this lousy book is the extensive black and white design work yet even here the reproduction is slightly variable. A couple of times the pictures fade away to almost nothing and sometimes the line work becomes unnaturaly heavy.
Finaly, the name of the book "Illustration and Artwork Collection" is remaniscent of that other boot leg book Ah! My Goddess Illustration and Artwork Collection, which made me think about checking the validity of the ISBN. Unsuprisingly the ISBN turned out to be invalid.
Don't waste your money. Buy Die Sterne instead.
